2010 SoFA EXHIBITION
INSTRUCTIONS FOR EXHIBITORS

FRAMING
Frames should be simple and preferably of metal, though a narrow dark wood frame is also okay. Ornate wood frames such as those used for oil paintings or watercolors are not acceptable because of the SoFA Gallery’s guidelines for exhibits.
Brightly colored frames should not be used. Frames can be black, bronze, dark green, or dark blue; silver and gold are also okay.
All frames must have a WIRE ACROSS THE BACK for hanging. Do not use the saw-toothed-type hanger that attaches at the top of the frame.
All images must be under glass. Plain window-type glass is fine. Non-glare glass is okay, but tends to dull the image and is more expensive than plain glass. Museum glass, which is also non-glare but does not dull the image, is much more expensive than plain glass.
If you wish, sign your image either within the image, on the mat, or on the back. But whether or not you do this, please be sure that your name and the title of the image are on the back, so the people hanging the show will know it’s yours.

DROP-OFF FOR THE HANGING OF THE EXHIBIT
Drop-off time for the hanging is 12:00-1:00, Monday, May 10, at the School of Fine Arts Gallery. The gallery is easily accessible from the parking lot of the IU Library. You can park briefly in the circle just outside the Fine Arts Building at the lower end of the Library parking lot.
You must have your images at the gallery by 1:00. The complex process of arranging the images for hanging needs to start by 1:00; it can’t begin until all the images are in the gallery.
If you can stay and help with the hanging, that would be great. If you don’t have an IU parking sticker, there is a pay lot a bit south on Jordan, and two at the IMU. The Library parking lot has some metered parking spaces.

RECEPTION AND DURATION OF EXHIBIT
The opening reception is Friday, May 14, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Club members bring food for the reception.
The exhibition will be open to the public from May 11 through May 21. The gallery is closed on Mondays.

PICK-UP AT END OF EXHIBIT
The exhibit concludes on FRIDAY, MAY 21. You must PICK UP YOUR IMAGES between noon and 4:00 P.M. on that day. Those are the only hours the gallery will be open that Friday.
If you can’t pick up your images at that time, please ask someone else to pick them up for you. They can’t be left in the gallery.
