Photoshop Workshop:
Adobe Camera RAW (acr)
UPCOMING MEETING: March 10: 1:30 - 3:30 / Monroe Co. Public Library, Room 1B
Enthusiasts can stay until 4:30.
By request, and the fact that it is time, we will dig into the complexities of acr and its ease of use.
» The preferences have changed for the better from CS4 to 5. The preferences must be understood.
» Acr allows us to open RAW, jpeg and tiff.
» It is also allowing us to update previous versions of photos left as acr to edit again.
» We can open multiple photos with the same íºlookí¿ and edit one and apply to all and re-edit the individuals.
» We can open acr in Bridge without opening PS.
» Bridge allows us to clear and copy/paste settings from an acr image.
» There are changes in sharpening and noise reduction in CS5.
» We can save versions of a photo leaving the original untouched.
» This is a large photo editing program but falls way short of PS.
Bring your laptop, or not, and we can work on your own pictures, set preferences, and get a more thorough understanding of acr. People without a laptop can watch others or hang with me.
The only way I can properly help with editing in acr is if you bring pictures to edit within the confines of the "standard look". For instance, bringing a picture within spec of a histogram without claiming an "artistic look" is essential in understanding the tools of acr. White point in acr is very good but not infallible. Again, we will adjust for the "standard look". Clarity, vibrance, and saturation along with the HSL area can create an amazing look. But a tweak too much and it all becomes abstract.
Since acr is so large I think it best to do two or more sessions. This will depend on interest.
