2025 JURIED EXHIBIT at the Monroe County Convention Center
GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING WORKS FOR JURYING
Number of submissions and cost
Each club member may submit up to 5 images this year. There will be no entry fee for submission to encourage member participation.
Jurying
Jurying will be done using digital images. This year’s jury will be selecting 80 images for the exhibit. Submissions can be uploaded between Tuesday July 1st and Sunday August 3rd. Submitting each image will be a two-step process:
Step 1: Complete a separate online submission form for each image at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfTN_KSDfMtsYAtfSjIySsXxSYm3M28Qt3SBPhyRbE0bmkQWg/viewform?usp=dialog which requests the title, file name (see instructions in Step 2 for labeling), sale price (if any), and some additional information. Remember, you will need to complete a separate form for each image you will be submitting. NOTE: There is a “Notes” section on the submission form for the photographer to optionally append image descriptions and comments to be added to a card for display with any images accepted by the jury. You can include a different note for each image if preferred.
Step 2: After filling out a form for each image, you will then upload your digital image(s). Digital images submitted for jurying must be two-dimensional photographic images. For jurying, images should be JPGs, preferably resized to 1400 pixels on the longest side (but we can resize them for you if you prefer). Please take care that no name, signature, or watermark is part of the visible image submitted to the jury so that the jurying process can be fair and anonymous. The jury will ignore EXIF and metadata. Please upload images via the following link https://driveuploader.com/upload/ikDQQJrn6w/ before the deadline on midnight Sunday August 3rd. Please label your image using file names as follows last name, first and middle initials and the image number (for example smithJL_1 for first image, smithJL_2 for second image and so on). It is critical that the file name on your image matches the file name provided on the entry form.
Notification of the jury results will be communicated via email by about Thursday August 21st. Members with images that have been accepted by the jury will then have almost four weeks to print and frame their accepted exhibition images.
Preparation of prints
1. To submit images for this exhibit, you must be a current paid member of the Bloomington Photography Club. If you have not paid 2025 dues you can do so as you are entering images to be considered by the jury.
2. Images must be original work by the artist.
3. Images that have been accepted and appeared in any previous juried BPC exhibit may NOT be submitted.
4. Images may be printed on paper, metal, canvas, plexiglass or glass.
5. Works should be a maximum of 700 square inches overall with a maximum single outside dimension of 48 inches. Sample maximum sizes: 26x26, 23x30, 20x35, 14x48 (Most works submitted are smaller).
6. All prints of images accepted by the jury for the exhibit must be matted and framed (except as detailed in (8) and (9) below regarding images printed on glass, plexiglass, metal, or canvas). Frames should be simple and of decent quality, preferably made of metal or narrow dark wood. Glass can be plain glass, non-glare glass, or museum glass. Black, white, or off-white mats work with almost any image. A colored mat should harmonize well with the image. An image mounted on Gator Board may or may not be framed. If the image is framed, it may have a self-mat, which may be colored or white. (A self-mat is printed on the paper as part of the image, extending evenly around the image to resemble an actual mat.)
7. NOTE: Ornate, brightly colored, or decorative frames are not allowed.
8. A frame is optional for images printed on plexiglass, canvas, glass or metal. No micro-laminate coating is required unless recommended by the printer.
9. Images printed on canvas may be on stretchers or mounted on a rigid backing (Gator Board, but not foam core).
10. Your exhibit image will be identified by a club-supplied wall card and in the catalog using your name, image title, contact information and sale price (or if image is NFS not for sale) that you entered on the submission form.
11. If you wish, sign your display image either within the image or on the mat (but images submitted to the jury should not show names).
12. Images may be mounted in any of the following ways:
a. Images that will be exhibited under glass should have a rigid backing such as foam core.
b. Images that will not be under glass should have a very rigid backing such as Gator Board.
13. When delivered to the gallery for installation each image should have a hanging mechanism firmly attached to the back and be ready to install. For framed images, wires must be attached to the frame and not the backing.
14. When delivered to the gallery each image must have affixed to the back the following information: your name, email, phone number, the title of the image, and the purchase price or “NFS” (not for sale). When setting your prices, remember that neither the Bloomington Photography Club nor the gallery take a commission on sales and, to avoid unfair competition with area retail galleries, the BPC requires artists to maintain their exhibit price for 6 months in the Bloomington area.

Legal Notes:
The exhibits committee, Bloomington Photography Club, City of Bloomington, and the Monroe Country Convention Center administrators and staff reserve the right to return or reject any image that in printed form does not conform to the standards required for display or that deviates from the juried image.
Please be aware that photographs portraying the work of other artists, and of some particular places, often may not legally be offered for sale without permission of the artist or organization. This includes, for example, sculptures and paintings, and buildings on the campuses of Indiana University. You may submit such photographs, but they should be listed as Not for Sale (NFS) unless you have obtained appropriate permissions.
Neither The exhibits committee, Bloomington Photography Club, City of Bloomington, nor the Monroe Country Convention Center administrators or staff can be held responsible for theft or damage to your images or personal property. Risk of loss is entirely the member’s responsibility.
