Parke County Field Trip

The BPC field trip to Parke County will take place on May 23 or 30, or June 13 or 20, depending upon the availability of the most participants. Parke County is well known for its many photogenic covered bridges, but it has a lot more to recommend it: winding rural roads through fields and forests, old mills, picturesque little towns, farmsteads old and new, waterfalls and steep canyons, lakes, and even a former state sanitorium (for spooky pictures).

While there is probably a week’s worth of places to explore, we will confine our ramblings to a single Saturday. Our current plan is to rendezvous in Rockville, Indiana at the visitor’s center between 8:30 and 9 a.m. on the selected Saturday (early birds may want to drive up earlier for morning pictures}. At the center we will make sure everyone has a list of the best bridges and other photogenic sites (and maps from the center) before you head out on your photography trek.

After a long morning’s wanderings to your preferred destinations, we will meet midafternoon for lunch at a venue to be chosen. After this late lunch, you can wander further as the spirit moves you, or shop, or both until you are ready to return home. Our current plan is to try to keep in touch on What’s App and even share images as we go.

If you are interested in going with us, please let me know no later than Wednesday May 13. Earlier is preferred. If you need more info before deciding on going, look up Parke County on the web. I will need to know which Saturdays you are available to go. If two or more persons will be going together, let me know that as well. Those who can’t drive and need to carpool with someone who can, let me know and we will work on matching you with a ride.

I will finalize a date to include as many people as possible by May 15.  Until then, cheers.
