History of Photography Meeting

  • Monroe County Public Library, Room 214 303 East Kirkwood Avenue Bloomington, IN, 47408 United States (map)

Our History of Photography Focus Group will be a hybrid meeting at the library and on Zoom. The goals of this group are to review the history of photography, famous photographers, photographic styles, and media.

Program: The meeting will feature photographer Minor White, with a slight emphasis on his enthusiasm for 'equivalence' in photography. Equivalence is a concept at the very heart of photography. It could be said that if a photographer doesn’t register equivalence as the foundation of what they do, they will be missing something important. A relevant factor is to what extent the photographer expects the camera to do the thinking, or if they are in tune with what they are creating.

Photoshare: If you feel so inclined, send me up to six historical photos you like through a Google search or if you have any of your own. Simply copy an image and pass it/them in an email it to me:
