Special Projects Fund

On October 20, 2026 the Board approved the establishment of a Special Projects Fund.  These funds are available to individuals or groups for projects that will to promote photographic excellence for the club as whole, promote recognition and involvement of the club in the community, and/or promote photography as a creative endeavor in the community.

Funding: The level of funding will be determined annually by the Board in October, depending upon funds available. Money will be drawn from donations and surplus general funds. In 2027, the funding will be a total of $1000.  Projects funded will normally range from $200 to $350, though amounts can be lower or higher as approved by the Board.

Responsibility:  The individual or group proposing the project will be responsible for carrying it through to completion and accounting for expenditures to the Board. Projects should be completed in the year for which the funds are provided. Responsible parties will be expected to report the outcomes to the Board once the project is completed.

Applications: Proposals may come from club officers, the Executive Council, and focus group leaders as well as individuals. Applications should be submitted electronically in writing, normally 1-2 pages, outlining the plan for the project, the specific use(s) for the funds, a timeline, and a projected outcome. The application should also specifically address how the club will benefit from its completion.

Applications may be submitted as early as October 1 of the preceding year. This is so approved projects may be included in club planning in November, if applicable. Thereafter projects may be submitted at any time during the funding year as long as funds are available. A project included on the annual calendar is not guaranteed funding until the project has Board approval.

Project proposals will normally be submitted to the Executive Council and approved by the full Board at a regular meeting. The Executive Council has discretion to modify the timeline under unusual circumstances.

Examples of club-focused projects could include such events and activities as special workshops for skills development; special funded speakers; BPC hosted contests; outreach efforts to the community; improvement of our our presence at arts fairs, etc.; club recruitment activities; public workshops or photo shares; and so forth. Generally, these funds are not for ongoing or repetitive operations for the club, for normal and customary distributions handled otherwise, or for individual benefits that don’t profit the club as a whole.
